Is Roga Safe?

Yes! Roga is based on decades of scientific research investigating the use of non-invasive brain stimulation to reduce stress.

Roga uses an exceptionally small electric current (less than 0.5 milliamps) to gently stimulate the brain. The stimulation feels like a slight tingling sensation on the skin.

The Roga device has undergone rigorous electrical safety testing (IEC 62368). The stimulation provided is safe and effective. Less than <1% of users may experience a mild headache, dizziness, nausea, or skin irritation. If this happens, decrease the intensity level of the Roga device or turn off the device and remove the patches from the skin. Symptoms will subside quickly.  

We recommend not applying Roga to irritated or injured skin.

How does Roga Work?

Roga is designed to restore balance to the nervous system using Non-Invasive Vagus Nerve Stimulation.
The device delivers gentle electrical pulses to the Vagus Nerve innervations behind the ear, specifically at the mastoid process (the bony area behind the ear).
Stimulating this sensory nerve sends direct feedback signals to key brain regions involved in stress regulation:

  • Default Mode Network (DMN): Overactivity in the DMN is associated with excessive rumination, worry, and cognitive hyperactivity. Prolonged dysregulation can impair focus, relaxation, and sleep quality. Roga sessions have shown to normalize DMN activity, promoting a calmer, more balanced cognitive state.
  • Amygdala (Fear Center): The amygdala plays a central role in processing fear and stress responses. Chronic stress can lead to heightened amygdala activity, resulting in persistent anxiety, increased heart rate, sweating, and difficulty calming down. Roga can help modulate this fear circuitry, reducing hyperactivation and restoring emotional regulation.

By influencing these critical brain areas, Roga helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, enhancing parasympathetic activation.

This promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and supports overall well-being, making it a valuable tool for mental and emotional balance.

What benefit can I expect and how soon will I feel them?

Roga users should expect less stress within two weeks of consistent daily use. The more consistent you are, the better the results.

Roga stimulation patterns are designed to facilitate natural states of relaxation. Roga pulses speak the language of the nervous system and are designed to decrease brain activity associated with severe stress, worry, and rumination.

Roga works by reducing activity within an area of the brain called the default mode network (DMN), which is responsible for worry, rumination, and stressful thoughts. With each Roga session, activity in the DMN becomes quieter leaving you more relaxed, focused, and more centered.

How can I tell if the device is working?

Your Roga device uses indicator lights to show its current status:

  • 🔵 Blue: Your device is active and delivering stimulation.
  • 🔴 Red: There’s a connection issue. To fix:
    • Ensure the stimulation pads are positioned firmly on the skin behind your ears, with no hair in between.
    • Confirm the ear hook cable is securely connected to the device.
    • Verify your Roga device is connected to your phone using the provided adapter.
  • 🟣 Pink: The device is in idle (sleep) mode. To activate stimulation, open the Roga app, go to the Device tab, and tap Start Stimulation. Alternatively, begin any session from the library to automatically activate your device.

What should I expect to feel when I use Roga device? How do I know if the intensity is high enough? What if I can't feel the stimulation?

Roga's stimulation has often been described as a slight buzzing or tingling sensation on the skin. When you first use Roga, the feeling may be unfamiliar to you, but it becomes less noticeable over time, and many users say they don’t notice the sensation beyond the first use.

*Please note: you DO NOT have to ‘feel’ the stimulation in order to get results.

The best results will come from consistent daily use of the device and by setting stimulation intensity to a comfortable level.

If the stimulation is uncomfortable turn down the intensity by adjusting the slider on the device.

The vast majority of users find maximum intensity quite comfortable.

I can't feel the stimulation?

If the blue light 🔵 is ON, and you can see the device as active in the Mobile App, then the stimulation is ON and working.

Please make sure you set the intensity slider to the MAX level.

If you can't feel the stimulation that is normal.

Please note you DO NOT have to feel the stimulation for it to work.

Some people are more sensitive than others, but the effects remain the same.

In fact, all of our clinical studies are done at sub-sensory levels, yet participants still experience the benefits.

Can I use the Roga device with other apps, or while watching TV / reading a book?

Yes absolutely!

You can follow these steps:

1. Open the Roga app
2. In the Device tab click on the "Connect" button
3. Once the device appears as connected click on the "Start Stimulation" button
4. You'll then see a 60min timer will start.
5. You can minimize the Roga app and swith to any other app.

This will allow you to log your Roga session while using other apps and keep your session metrics.

* Please make sure you have downloaded the latest version of the Roga app from the AppStore

How do I connect my device to the Roga App? It's showing as "Device Not Connected"

There are 3 ways to know if your device is not properly connected:

  1. In the Roga App > Device Tab > it shows as "Device Not Connected"
  1. The light on the device keeps pulsating Pink 🟣
  1. Even if you start a video session from the library, the light keeps on pulsating Pink 🟣

Pink 🟣 light means the devices is on IDLE MODE

iOS Troubleshooting

  • Open the Settings App on your phone
  • Scroll down and tap on the Roga App (if you can't find the Roga app try reinstalling it from the App Store)
  • Tap on the Local Network toggle to turn it ON


Android Troubleshooting

  • Open the Roga App on your phone > go to the Device Tab
  • Plug in the devices to your phone via the provided USB-C adapter
  • Click on the "Connect" button.
  • After a few seconds a pop up asking for permission to connect the device will appear
  • "Alow Roga to access Roga v1"
  • Click OK
  • Wait a few seconds. If the message pops up again click OK


How to Proceed?

Once your device shows as connected in the Device Tab go ahead and start a video session from the library or start stimulation directly from the Device tab.

As soon as you start a video session the light on the devices will turn Blue 🔵 which means the stimulation is active

Can I use the Roga device without the Roga App?

Yes, Roga can be used with other apps.!

To use the Roga device with other apps like Youtube, Netflix or Spotify, you'll need to follow these steps:

1. Open the Roga app
2. In the Device tab click on the "Connect" button
3. Once the device appears as connected click on the "Start Stimulation" button
4. You'll then see a 60min timer will start.
5. You can minimize the Roga app and swith to any other app.

This will allow you to log your Roga session while using other apps and keep your session metrics.

* Please make sure you have the latest version of the Roga app from the AppStore

How do I change the electrode pads?

In order to change the electrode pads, just pull lightly on the electrodes until they unsnap from the earhook.

Grab a fresh pair of electrodes from the electrode bag and snap them in directly to the earhooks.

When is time to replace the Electrode Pads?

You should replace the electrode pads if either of these 2 happen:

  • They no longer stick well to your skin.
  • The device light turns red 🔴, indicating the electrodes may not have proper contact, even if they are well-placed.

How often should I change the Electrode Pads?

On average, electrode pads last about 5 to 10 sessions, but this can vary depending on your skin type and the humidity where you live.
To extend their lifespan, store them in the pouch after every session.

*Extra Tip: You can also try adding a drop of water to the sticky side of the pads, this will increase the lifespan of the Electrode and improve adhesion / conductivity.

Are Roga electrode pads safe for my skin?

The electrodes are made of a medical grade hydrogel and have undergone extensive biocompatibility testing.

Less than 1% of users report mild skin irritation, which typically subsides within a few minutes after removing the electrodes. If irritation persists, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.

Why does the Roga device require access to my local network?

Even though you plug the device directly into your phone, iOS still needs “Local Network” permission to communicate with the device.
This does not mean the device is accessing your home network or collecting any personal information—it’s simply how iOS enables data transfer for certain hardware accessories. Everything stays between your phone and the device, and your private home network data remains secure.

Are there side effects?

Less than 1% of users report a mild, temporary headache, dizziness, nausea, or skin irritation when using the device.

If you experience any of these symptoms, please stop the session immediately. The symptoms should subside within a few minutes. If you continue to feel unwell please consult a healthcare professional.

Are there any contraindications?

1. The Roga device should not be used with implanted devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators, or if metal implants are present in the neck or head.

2. Patients with epilepsy should use the Roga device under the supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner.

3. The Roga device should not be used during pregnancy or by individuals under 18.

Can I use Roga if I'm under medical care for anxiety?

The Roga device is a wellness device. It is not a medical device and is not meant to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical conditions
For that reason, always seek the advice of your physician or other licensed healthcare practitioner with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

Is Roga FDA cleared?

The Roga wearable is not FDA cleared as a medical device.
It is a wellness device designed to support stress and relaxation. It is intended for general wellness use and is not meant to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical conditions.


This statement has not been evaluated or reviewed by the FDA.

Nonetheless, the Roga wearable has been built under rigorous design controls. Roga meets the Quality System Regulation ISO 13485 manufacturing requirements for devices sold in the United States.

Can I sleep while wearing Roga device?

We do not recommend you go to sleep with the Roga headset on. That being said if you actually fall asleep with the device on, don't worry the device has an embedded timer and it will shut itself off after 60 min.

Roga was designed to be used during the day or before bedtime. It will help with sleep quality as its effects last for hours after a session and build up over time.

How long will the battery last?

The Roga device doesn’t use any batteries!

That’s right, no need for charging or buying extra batteries.

Instead, you just plug the cable directly to your phone like a wired headset.

Note: Each Roga session will use approximately 1% of your phone's battery.

Can I charge my phone while using Roga?

Unfortunately, no. Please wait until your phone has more than 5% charge in order to your Roga device.

Can I use Roga with wireless headphones?

Yes! Roga is meant to be used with your wireless headphones 🎧

*Headphones are not included with the purchase of a Roga device.

What if I don’t have wireless headphones?

There are 2 alternatives:

  • You can use your phone speaker to listen to the audio from the Roga app.
  • You can stream the videos to your apple TV or cast to your TV via chromecast or Roku device.

Are there any studies or trials with the Roga device?

How do I clean my Roga device?

We recommend using an alcohol wipe or soft wet cloth to clean the surface of the case and the earhooks.
Please remove the electrodes if you are going to clean the earhooks. To remove the electrodes, just pull on the electrodes until they unsnap from the earhook.

Roga is not waterproof, so avoid submerging it in water.

Please do not wear the Roga device in the shower, bath, or while swimming.

What phones and tablets are compatible with Roga?

Our hardware and mobile app are developed, updated, and tested on iOS 16+ devices.

Android
The Roga mobile app is supported for smartphones running Android 9 and above.

Tablets
Yes, the mobile app is also available for both iOS and Android tablets.

*Although older devices may be compatible, performance improvements and fixes are not developed specifically for this range of devices.

Will my insurance cover the cost of the device?

Most insurance plans currently do not cover the Roga device, but you can conveniently use your FSA or HSA cards to purchase it.

These accounts allow you to use pre-tax dollars, which can save you money on your purchase.

What's Roga's return policy?

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, we offer free returns within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or replacement.

THIRTY (30) DAY RETURN POLICY

This return policy applies only to purchases made through www.rogalife.com. If you purchased a Roga through a third-party marketplace and you are interested in making a return, then please contact that third-party marketplace.

If you are unhappy or unsatisfied with your Roga device you may return your Roga device within thirty (30) days of activation of your Roga account after you received the device for a full refund. This will get refunded via your original payment method.

In order to receive your refund you must request a return within thirty (30) days of activation. The date of activation is the earlier of the date that you first linked your Roga to an account using the Roga application, or the date that is 30 days after you purchased your Roga through www.rogalife.com.

Again, this Roga return policy applies only to purchases made from www.rogalife.com.

Below are instructions on how to return your Roga and receive your refund.

RETURN PROCEDURE

To request a return, please send an email to [email protected].

A return shipping label will be provided to you. Use the shipping label to ship your Roga back to us.

Once you have requested your return, you are eligible for a refund of the initial payment, as long as the Roga device is sent back to us and received in perfect condition within thirty (30) days from the date you requested the return. If we do not receive your Roga device within thirty (30) days after you request the return, you will not receive a refund.

Once a return is requested, we will issue the refund.
